Our Story
As they prepared to write their pilot exams, Yardstick co-founders Don Riep and Chris LaBossiere, recognized the need for an online study tool that would compete with traditional textbook prep materials. The two friends were baffled at the use of the highly inefficient method of paper testing. Out of this frustration, the company was born in Don’s basement, beginning initially as a hobby business. Not surprisingly, the first customers were individuals studying to take their pilot exam using PilotSense.com. This initial success led to the development of a strategy to expand into other verticals and, eventually, a fully-customizable, easy-to-deploy, online testing and online training learning management system.
