The first stage in the Assessment Life Cycle, Defining Target and Creating Specifications, is where any assessment program starts. Here test developers decide what they’d like their assessment to be able to conclude about test takers, and finish by creating a crystal clear blueprint on the number and types of test questions that need to be written.

Yardstick Expands to Toronto

We are over-the-moon excited to officially announce that Yardstick will be opening a second Canadian office!

Located in Toronto, this new office will be our first physical expansion and will serve as the Eastern headquarters for all of our professional testing and training services. Yardstick EAST will also be home to a world-class testing centre, similar to the Edmonton Exam Centre.

Bookmark Standard Setting

Last week we posted a blog discussing the fun and fabulous Angoff standard setting method. This time around we will talk about the Angoff Bookmark method.

The Bookmark method is a somewhat more intuitive method of standards setting compared to the Angoff method and is appropriate for both fixed exam forms as well as item banks using in Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT).

Yardstick Supports “2012 Hockey Marathon”

We are happy to be a donating sponsor of the 2012 Hockey Marathon for the Kids, in support of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.

This exciting and world record breaking event will be held from May 6-16 and will feature volunteers from across Alberta playing hockey for 10 days, 24 hours per day in an effort to break the current world record of 243 hours. All proceeds raised in support of the event will go to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, which will support life saving equipment for PICU and cancer research at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.
