Want to be a Yardsticker? Here’s what you need to know.

Our success is driven by the great people who work here. At Yardstick we are always looking for people to bring fresh perspectives, skills, and curiosity to the table. Our team includes rockstars from diverse fields, from software engineering and customer service to instructional design and data analysis. Together, we’ve changed the lives of over 19 million people.

Benefits program

We offer 100% company-paid medical and dental benefits, for your AND your family. And that’s just the start. Our Employee Assistance Program offers resources and 24/7 counselling in all matters of your life.

RRSP matching

Yardstick also helps employees prepare for their long-term financial wellness through a dollar-for-dollar RRSP matching program. We’ll set you up with an account and match your contributions up to a maximum of 2% of your salary.

Paid time off

Need to attend your kid’s soccer game? Feel a cold coming on? Or are you having an off week and just need to take a day to relax and recuperate? Work-life balance is king here and Yardstick offers 17+ days of flexible time off – to be used however you need.

Innovative workspaces

Open concept offices, conversation cubbies, and glass walls inspire collaboration. Bright walls and an all-you-can-drink coffee bar energize us. Built-in communication technology links teams across borders.

Recognition and kudos

Recognition is a big part of our culture. With a Slack channel completely dedicated to giving shout-outs and our employee-nominated Yardsticker of the Month program, we celebrate every win at Yardstick, big or small.

The hiring process

Resume and cover letter screening

We personally go through each application. The purpose of this step is to determine if a candidate might be a good fit for a position. Do they have the right experience or qualifications? Does the expected compensation match the budget for the position? If the hiring manager likes what they see, we flag you for a phone screen with People Operations (POps).

Phone interview

Someone from People Operations will get in touch to schedule a phone interview. We would love to learn more about you and answer any questions you may have about the job. Our goal is to introduce the candidate to the Yardstick culture and do a preliminary assessment of whether there is a good culture fit.

In-person interview

We like what we’ve seen! We meet with you face-to-face to discuss the position further. You will be meeting with the hiring manager to discuss the role and how your qualifications and experience make you the golden fit. We will be confirming the assessment made in the phone interview, including fit with career interests and goals, as well as fit with Yardstick’s culture, vision, and core values.

Work sample

Role depending — This is your chance to strut your stuff. When a role requires a certain level of technical competence, or will be supervising other employees, we may ask you to complete a work sample test. If you’re a software developer, you might do some coding. If you’re hoping to land a senior level marketing position, we’ll get you to complete a business case for us.

Second in-person interview

Role depending — You’ve almost made it! For some roles, a senior leader or members of the team want a chance to meet our top candidate(s) to assess how well you will get along with your team, and determine long-term fit with the company.

An award-winning corporate culture.

As a two time winner of the Waterstone Human Capital Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Culture award, Yardstick has invested in creating a great place to work. From an extra hour of paid break on Friday afternoons and company-sponsored events to our Yardsticker of the Month program, we find endless opportunities to have fun, celebrate wins, challenge one another, and build trust.
