We’re looking for our next Yardsticker.


Yardstick has an incredible opportunity for an entrepreneur to step in and lead the release of a brand new SaaS product that will change the face of online testing and training.

LearnerVerified will combat a rising challenge – learner fraud – by adding a layer of defensible security to any online course through biometrics, facial detection, remote proctoring, and more. The product is there, the corporate support services are ready – we are just waiting for the right person to be the public face of LearnerVerified and own the entire division.

This is an atypical role, and we’re expecting an atypical candidate. We’re looking for someone who can jump in and hit the ground running, and someone who can quickly and effectively lead this product. We expect this person is just as stellar at marketing themselves, so use your discretion on whether you want to provide a resume, cover letter, brochure, LinkedIn profile, portfolio, or website so we know instantly you’re the right person for the job.

What you'll be doing

Grow the Business

  • Develop, implement, and execute a Yardstick LearnerVerified strategic plan, approved by the Yardstick Training Division President & CRO, and clearly define the vision for this new product.
  • Build, lead, and provide guidance to the LearnerVerified team to ensure customer delight, financial targets, and risk mitigation relating to course/exam security and administration.
  • Create a vision for meaningful software development and a competitive product roadmap to address client feature requests and changing needs, provided they have a high ROI.
  • Become a SME on learner fraud within the first year, dedicated to changing the face of online learning.
  • Capitalizing on opportunities to present to other industry professionals (and potential clients), quickly becoming a thought leader.

Manage the Business

  • Evaluate and understand the dynamics of the LMS marketplace, our customers and competitors, and act upon that understanding to increase market share and meet progressive annual budget targets.
  • Manage the business and achieve budgeted gross revenue targets, expense ratios, and EBITDA.
  • Contribute to the creation of goals and strategy to market LearnerVerified to existing and potential clients to increase market share and further brand recognition and value through partnerships and industry events.
  • Focus on constant mentorship and vision communication with division staff and embrace a culture of culture of straight talk and people development.

Scale the Business

  • Create a vision for scalable and efficient client support, ensuring customer delight by providing impeccable and consistent service that is secure, scalable, and profitable.
  • Create a vision for our LearnerVerified team and service offerings that ensures our position of profitable market leader and fosters a culture of thought leadership with our clients and industry.
Qualities we love
  • Post-secondary education in Business or equivalent in experience.
  • Minimum 5 years progressively responsible experience in software or as a start-up founder
  • Leadership capabilities in line with responsibilities, with potential for upward growth and greater responsibilities
  • Highly driven to build teams for winning results
  • Biased towards change and action
  • Capability to proactively identify and resolve issues in an efficient and collaborative manner
  • Superior skills to find and retain top talent; effective evaluation and development of a team that can achieve maximum effectiveness in the Canadian LMS market
  • Ability to analyze and interpret competitors’ actions, and react strategically with effective and timely actions to grow company’s market share
  • Ability to motivate and empower reports to do their best work in pursuit of the company’s business objectives
  • Understands industry technical data, market trends and customers’ requirements
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in small and large group environments
  • Ability to plan, organize and delegate
  • Some travel may be required
