Chris LaBossiere

CEO & Co-founder

Chris LaBossiere is Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer for the Yardstick family of companies. Prior to co-founding Yardstick in 2002, he got his start in the solid waste and recycling industry, where he continues to drive innovation through his work with Local Waste Services.

Chris is passionate about serving his community, contributing to and helping lead various initiatives, including the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation, Make Something Edmonton, and Startup Edmonton. Currently he serves on the Board of Directors for TEC Edmonton. He has mentored several budding entrepreneurs and invested in a number of local companies at the start-up and growth stage.

Chris has been recognized as one of Edmonton’s Top 40 Under 40 by Avenue Magazine, one of Alberta’s 50 Most Influential People by Alberta Venture Magazine, as well as a Western Canada finalist for Ernst & Young’s 2017 Entrepreneur of the Year (alongside Don Riep).

Outside of the office, Chris spends time with his family and black lab, Recce. Despite his success in business, he cites his two daughters as his greatest accomplishment, with whom he has amassed over $8,000 in Canadian Tire money.

Don Riep

CTO & Co-founder

Don Riep is Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer for Yardstick. In his role as CTO, he manages all technology services and centralized IT operations, as well as overseeing strategic direction of the company’s new and existing technology since founding. As a member of the executive team, he is also spearheading a staff mentorship and leadership program.

Don is an analytical, inventive, and innovative developer and product evangelist. He started Yardstick with Chris LaBossiere in 2002 after a long tenure in the IT sector, bringing experience in sales, engineering, marketing, and leadership, with recent experience in Enterprise-level SaaS products and platforms.

Don is passionate about giving back to Canadian technology sector. He is a founding member of Startup Edmonton and the review board of Flightpath, and continues to mentor young developers and entrepreneurs. In 2017, he was recognized by Ernst & Young as a Western Canada Entrepreneur of the Year (alongside Chris LaBossiere).

Isabelle Gonthier

President, Yardstick Assessments

Dr. Isabelle Gonthier is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Yardstick Assessment Strategies. Isabelle sets strategic vision and accountabilities for the Assessment team, advises on high-stakes accounts, and presents at conferences, seminars, webinars, and other events to advance the field of professional testing.

Prior to joining Yardstick, Isabelle established herself as an industry leader developing and administering national licensure and certification exams and assessment tools. She’s held consulting and leadership roles with Assessment Strategies Inc., Human Resource Systems Group, the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board, and most recently the Financial Planning Standards Council.

Isabelle is a firebrand for rigour and innovation in professional assessment and a staunch defender of psychometric standards, exam validity, and defensibility. She is an active member of various testing and credentialing associations and organizations, including the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (MCCA), the Certification Advisory Committee for the Canadian Network for Respiratory Care, and the Research Advisory Council of the National Dental Examining Board (NDEB).

Isabelle earned her Doctorate in Experimental Psychology at the University of Ottawa.

Damon Clooney

VP Finance

Damon Clooney is Vice-President of Finance at Yardstick, where he oversees corporate finance strategy and leads a decentralized accounting team across 5 offices and 2 provinces.

Damon joined the Yardstick team in 2011, and has since seen the company through several million-dollar acquisitions and exponential growth. Outside his work with Yardstick, Damon has volunteered his skills in finance, as well as a team coach, for youth softball clubs in Edmonton and across Alberta. Currently, he is coaching a team in Lloydminster.

Damon holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta.
